MEN
Small Big men heap together piles of gold
Rub their hands, are satisfied and dispense
Wisdom to the world of those who work.
We working men scrape together smaller piles of silver,
Raise clenched fists, feel involved and dictate
Criticism of beguiling rich and lazy poor
An African mother gathers together some few grains of rice,
Lifts her arms to a silent Heaven,
Lifts her eyes to a silent Priest,
Buries her daughter in the silent Earth.
Meanwhile, also, the struggle for Women’s Equality goes on.
